Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has developed new Australia-wide standards to improve food safety for the primary production and processing of: leafy vegetables melons berries.

The State Government has established an $80 million fund to unlock a new pipeline of apartment development in key urban precincts and key worker accommodation and community housing regional areas. Applications are open until 6 September 2024 unless the funding allocation is exhausted earlier.

The recycling of blister packs through the Nannup Pharmacy is set to continue after the trial of the program far exceeded expectations.

Forest Products Commission (FPC) will commence harvesting of pine trees from the 5 March 2024. The harvesting will impact the Trails at the Tank 7 lookout as well as the Tank to Tank trail. The harvesting operation is expected to take approximately six weeks. The area bound by Lindsay Road, Brockman Road and Brockman highway will be closed for the duration of the pine harvesting operation.

On Tuesday 28 November Jack the Ultra Cyclists visited Nannup after his huge world record feat of the Munda Biddi Trail non-stop against the clock. He overcame adversity, rode the 1067km trail in 50 hours, with only two 10 minute naps.

The Nannup Timber Mill story has been captured in a video.  The video interviews some of the mill’s longest employees, and details how one employee started work there in 1971 and another two in 1975. It is a fantastic documentation of Nannup's important history. 

The Shire of Nannup is a proud supporter of the ‘Spirit of the Heart-Djanga Koornt,’ Wardandi Song Project, connecting Indigenous and Non-Indigenous communities. This project was officially launched at the Shire of Augusta Margaret River NAIDOC Week celebration at Nala Bardip Mia - Margaret River HEART on 3 July 2023.

The Shire of Nannup has recently commenced construction of the Mountain Bike Freestyle Jump Park within the reserve bound by Mowen Road, Vasse Highway and Miller Road. The project consists of two downhill mountain bike jump lines and one return line and is part of the Nannup Trail Town Project.

The Shire of Nannup was recognised for its amazing reform achievements and collective commitment to make it easier for small business to start, relocate, grow and thrive.

On Friday 3rd March 2023, as part of the iconic Nannup Music Festival weekend, the Honourable Don Punch, Representative for the City of Bunbury and Minister for Regional Development, announced $50,000 of funding to assist the Shire of Nannup in creating a Master Plan to shape the town’s development over the next twenty years.

The $4 million Community Small Grants Fund (CSGF) supports community groups and businesses within Western Australia's native forest regions. The CSGF will be provided through two competitive grant rounds each delivering $2 million. Funding of up to $100,000 is available for sustainable projects that aim to create jobs, expand and diversify the local economy, and create liveable communities through services, infrastructure, tourism and events. The first funding round will open on 20 February and close on 21 April 2023.

Renowned Western Australia Hip Hop masters Optamus Downsyde and Flewnt will be coming to the Nannup Family Fun Day on 17 January. Young people aged 12- 17 years are welcome to join in on the Hip Hop workshop on the day.

The Shire of Nannup, through their journey towards reconciliation, are working with local First Nations people in creating the Wardandi-language song writing project. The project will tell the Wardandi stories through a modern sound and will be hosted in Nannup. Nannup is known as the “Stopping Place” in the local Noongar language.
