WEED STRATEGY AND PROPOSED LOCAL PEST PLANT LAW
Council has resolved to look into the development of a Weed Strategy which contains, as a component of that Strategy, a Proposed Local Pest Plant Law.
The Weed Strategy will give Council guidance on eradicating or controlling environmental weeds within the Shire. The purpose and effect of the Proposed Local Law is to prescribe pest plants and provide for some local legislation for the eradication or control of pest plants by the owner or occupier of land on which these occur.
A copy of the Draft Weed Strategy may be obtained from the Shire Office during normal office hours or from Council’s website www.nannup.wa.gov.au. Submissions about the Draft Weed Strategy will be accepted up to the close of business on Friday 16 January 2009. Note that if the strategy proceeds to the formal making of a local law a separate advertising process would be undertaken.
