Foreshore Park Naming

Residents to vote on the re-naming of the Foreshore Park

Council at its October 2007 meeting resolved to seek comments from the community on names put forward for the area currently known as Foreshore Park.  A letter drop will be undertaken in the coming weeks asking residents to nominate a preferred name from the following list:

 

  • Arboretum Amphitheatre
  • Blackwood Amphitheatre

  • Timberline Amphitheatre

  • Blythe Park
  • Bora-Mia (indigenous name relating to meet/celebrate/dance)
  • Goorbilyup (indigenous name where river winds out and opens up)
  • Nannup Amphitheatre
  • Nursery Park
  • Riverside Amphitheatre
  • TimeWood Park

Thee names have been submitted by members of the community.  Council will consider the feedback it receives from the letter drop prior to making a decision on the naming of the area.

 

Council is also seeking additional community members to nominate for representation on the Foreshore Park Advisory Committee.  The committee deals with issues associated with the development and management of the area and meets around four times a year.  Please contact Elizabeth Denniss at the Shire office if you would like to be involved.
