Recycling

Recycling facilities are available at the Nannup Waste Management Facility.  The recycling area is located on the left hand side just inside the entrance gates so that users can deposit recyclables prior to depositing their refuse.

One thing the attendant is on the lookout for are any recyclables or other items that can be diverted from landfill.  The best way of extending the life of the facility is to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill as much as possible.  All users are requested to separate and deposit recyclables in order to reduce the volume of waste to landfill. This alone will assist the community in achieving long term environmental and economic gains.

Recyclable materials accepted include:

  • Magazines & glossy paper
  • Aluminium cans & clean aluminium foil
  • Newspapers
  • Cardboard
  • All glass containers
  • Steel cans
  • Plastics marked 1, 2, 3 & 5 (see bottom of container)
  • Milk & juice cartons, rinsed
  • Car & truck batteries
  • Shopping bags
  • Aerosol cans, caps and nozzles removed and punched to release pressure
  • White and coloured office paper
  • Uncontaminated green waste
  • Waste oil

Residents are reminded to ensure that all materials are thoroughly cleaned before dropping off their materials at the drop off centre.

Besides recyclables there are other materials that can be recovered such as used furniture, toys, machinery etc.  If you are in doubt, please ask the gate attendant.

Materials that can be recycled change from time to time depending on the market for the particular commodity. Residents will be kept informed on any changes in what can be recycled through Council’s normal means of communication.
