National Relay Service

Speak and Listen Calls An Australian Government Initiative.

How it Works:
You can ring 1800 555 727 to call an 1800 number within Australia.
If you intend to make premium rate or international calls, you will need to open an NRS account - either download a from from the website or contact the helpdesk.  You can use your own voice during the phone calls to talk directly to the other person.  It's great for other people to be able to hear what you say and it's a lot more personal.

The relay officer will re-speak any or all of of your words, depending on your instructions.

Your NRS call will proceed more quickly if you have the area code and number of the person you wish to call.  Just follow the prompts and you will be chatting away in not time.

You can ask for more information or training (free) if you are not sure how to make a speak and listen call.

You can use an ordinary phone or mobile to contact a speak and listen user throught the NRS.
