Australia Day Active Citizenship Award for a Community Group or Event: The Nannup Craft Group

The Nannup Craft Group

Over a number of years this group has held a raffle each August to raise funds for Cancer research. Approximately $53,000 has been raised to date.

Each member of the group contributes to the making of the quilt for the raffle, with the project often taking many months to come together. There are several ladies who have been long term members, including Di Longbottom, Kelva Keeley and Kaye Lock.

This year for the fund raiser in August the group are making “mini” baby quilts for new born babies who remain in hospital for a time after birth. The raffle this year is to help raise funds for the upgrading of the Community House.

The Nannup Craft Group assists each year with decorating the front of the Community House for the Nannup Flower & Garden Festival. Much energy and creativity goes into this display and visitors to town comment on this.

The Nannup Craft Group meets each Tuesday morning in the Community House and welcome new members to join them.
