Outside the Box-online art classes
The Nannup Local Drug Action Group (LDAG) has been getting creative in order to foster social connections amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Understanding that this is a time to ‘think outside the box,’ the Nannup LDAG along with the Alcohol and Drug Foundation and the Shire of Nannup is keeping local young people engaged by adapting their ‘Youth Zone’ activities to run online. While the ‘Youth Zone’ usually engages young people aged between 12-17, ‘Outside the Box’ has been broadened so young people of any age and their families can participate.
Local artist, Leanne White, is running a series of weekly online art classes called ‘Outside the Box’. Each week a different theme is uploaded via video tutorials in social media groups.
The Alcohol and Drug Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Erin Lalor says “Community-led action is powerful in preventing and reducing harm from alcohol and other drugs.”
‘Outside the Box’ is testament to Nannup's resilient spirit and ability to connect with each other.
