Caretaker Needed – Nannup Community Storage Shed

The Shire of Nannup is seeking an interested community member or local group to take on the role of Caretaker for the Nannup Community Storage Shed. This is a light‑touch, community‑support role that helps keep local events running smoothly.

About the Facility
The Nannup Community Storage Shed is a Shire-owned and managed facility comprising six individual sheds. These provide secure storage for community groups, reducing reliance on personal homes and supporting local events and initiatives. One shed, the Community Shed – Equipment Hire, contains equipment purchased by the Shire or donated from large-scale events to support inclusive participation in community activities.

Role Overview
The Caretaker will oversee the day-to-day management of the Community Shed – Equipment Hire, ensuring equipment is secure, well-maintained, and accessible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Unlock and secure the shed for equipment sign-out and return.
  • Maintain a log of equipment usage and condition.
  • Keep a diary of bookings and attendance.
  • Organise repairs and maintenance (with Shire approval).
  • Keep the shed neat and organised.
  • Act as sole key holder.

    What the role involves

    A few straightforward, low‑effort tasks:

    • Opening and closing the Community Shed for equipment pick‑up and return
    • Checking that hired items are returned and in good order

What the role does not include

To keep the role simple, safe and manageable, the Caretaker is not responsible for:

    • Loading or unloading equipment
    • Lifting heavy items
    • Transporting equipment

All physical handling is managed by event organisers — the Caretaker’s role is purely supervisory and administrative at the Shed.

    💰 Support Provided

    • Annual payment of $1,000, based on ten events at $100 per event
    • Administrative support from the Shire
    • Very minimal paperwork required

    🌼 Why get involved?

This is a great opportunity if you:

    • Enjoy contributing to community life
    • Want an easy, low‑commitment way to support local events
    • Prefer a light, non‑onerous role
    • Like helping things run smoothly behind the scenes

📩 We’d love to hear from you

If this sounds like a good fit for you or your community group, please get in touch.
Your involvement helps keep our community vibrant, supported and well‑equipped.
