Event Highlights
The Race – 92km Blackwood River Challenge
The Nannup Cup spans 92 kilometres from the Nannup Caravan Park to Sue’s Bridge. The course features long pools, rapids, and natural obstacles such as fallen logs and trees. Earlyโseason conditions may result in particularly low water levels, increasing the technical skill required.
This event is an excellent opportunity for competitors to refine their riverโracing abilities and prepare for August’s Avon Descent.
All Power Dinghy Racing classes are invited to compete, including:
- Standard
- Super Standard
- Sports
- Adventure Class
The weekend concludes with a presentation ceremony at the Nannup Hotel on Sunday evening, offering a chance to celebrate achievements and share race stories.
Practice Day – Saturday 13 June 2026
The Nannup Cup practice day is dedicated to training new members rather than competition practice.
All boats will travel together from Jalbarragup Bridge upriver for approximately one hour, before turning around and returning to the bridge.
This is a valuable, supported opportunity for new participants to become familiar with the river environment and race procedures.
River Levels
River levels play an important role in race safety and difficulty. Water levels depend on rainfall received within the catchment in the lead-up to the event.
Participants can check the current Blackwood River level at site 609058 (Nannup Caravan Park) via the available monitoring link.
General conditions:
- Below 1.0m – low
- Below 0.5m – particularly low
Regular monitoring is recommended so competitors can prepare appropriately for race day.
