Nannup Native Forest Mountain Bike Park at Pine Ridge

Pine Ridge at Millward

From Pioneers to MTB Park

A Place with Layers of History

Before Pine Ridge becomes Nannup’s newest mountain bike park, this land has already lived many lives.

From early settlement and forestry, to the Pine Ridge Golf Course where generations gathered to play and connect, this place has long been part of Nannup’s social and cultural story. While the fairways may be gone, the memories remain — and they are shaping what comes next.

Pine Ridge at Millward is not just a new trail network.
It’s the continuation of a place that has always brought people together.

The Journey So Far

2017 – A Trail Town Takes Shape

Nannup is recognised as a Regional Bike Hub in State planning documentation, setting the foundation for long‑term investment in cycling, trails and visitor experiences.

2019 – Planning the Future

Funding from Lotterywest enables the Shire of Nannup to develop cycling strategies and begin concept planning and detailed design for what would become the Tank 7 MTB Park.

2020 – Momentum Builds

Construction begins on Stage 1 of the Tank 7 trail network through Australian Government Funding via the Drought Communities Program.

At the same time, Experience Nannup is launched, bringing together destination marketing, mobile visitor information via the Experience Nannup App.

Nannup is also positioned as a Munda Biddi Halfway Town, cementing its role in long‑distance cycling journeys.

2021 – Connecting Town and Trails

With a combination of State and Federal Government funding  (South West Development Commission Regional Economic Development Round 2 and Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Funds 1 & 2), Stage 2 of Tank 7 MTB Park is constructed and the Town‑to‑Tank Link is completed, connecting Nannup’s main street to its trail assets.

The Nannup Trail Town Project business case is funded by the Australian Government Regional Recovery Partnership Program, securing $2.8 million to deliver multiple connected cycling projects — including Pine Ridge MTB Park.

2022–2024 – Places for All Riders

Nannup Tank 7 MTB Park opens to the public and gravel and road cycling routes across the region are signposted.

In 2024, the Ngoolark MTB Jump Park opens, creating a space for families, young riders and skills progression close to town.

2025–2026 – Completing the Jigsaw

Additional funding through the Australian Government Active Transport Fund sees the Southern Bridges Project progress, improving trail and active transport connections for the Munda Biddi Trail users, horse riders and pedestrians.

With construction at Pine Ridge, the old golf course site, commencing in February 2026, the Trail Town vision comes full circle — linking town, trails, nature and community.

Why Pine Ridge Matters

Pine Ridge MTB Park is designed to complement — not compete with — Nannup’s existing trail assets.

  • Tank 7 MTB Park offers thrilling, purpose‑built mountain bike trails
  • Ngoolark Jump Park supports learning, confidence and youth participation
  • Gravel and road routes connect Nannup to its broader landscape
  • Pine Ridge MTB Park brings riding back into the forest — shaded, accessible, family‑friendly and grounded in place

Together, they position Nannup as a complete riding destination — while still retaining its character, culture and charm.

Built with Community, Guided by Story

This project is being shaped with the community, not just for it.

Throughout planning and construction, we are gathering stories, memories and reflections from people who know Pine Ridge — whether through golf days, forestry work, family picnics or simply walking among the trees.

These voices will help:

  • honour the site’s past
  • inform trailhead interpretation
  • shape public art and landscape design
  • contribute to a behind‑the‑scenes documentary capturing the Trail Town journey

If you have a memory, photo or story connected to Pine Ridge, we would love to hear from you.

A Welcoming Place to Arrive

As part of the Trail Town Project, Pine Ridge connects into a broader focus on arrival and welcome.

From riders entering Nannup via the Munda Biddi Trail to visitors arriving along the Vasse Highway, the experience of “arriving in Nannup” is being carefully considered — through signage, landscape, public art and storytelling.

Future entry statements and trailhead features will reflect:

  • local heritage
  • natural materials
  • timeless design
  • solar lighting
  • garden spaces that change with the seasons

All grounded in the name Nannup.

Looking Ahead

Pine Ridge is more than a new facility.

It’s a continuation of how Nannup grows — carefully, collaboratively and with respect for the land and the people who know it best.

As trails are built and stories recorded, this page will continue to evolve — documenting not just what is constructed, but how it came to be.

Because every rider leaves tracks.

And every community leaves a story.
