Nannup to Host the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships
Nannup has been selected as the host town for the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships, one of the most prestigious events on the international cycling calendar.
From 4 to 11 October 2026, the world's best gravel cyclists will converge on Nannup and the Southern Forests & Valleys region to compete for the coveted UCI Rainbow Jersey across some of Western Australia's most spectacular gravel terrain.
The event is expected to deliver significant economic benefits, attract thousands of visitors and showcase Nannup's natural beauty, welcoming community and reputation as a premier outdoor adventure destination.

Race Days
Saturday 10 October 2026
- Elite Women: Start 10.10 am
- Age-category races: From approximately 10.30 am
Sunday 11 October 2026
- Elite Men: Start 10.10 am
- Age-category races: From approximately 10.30 am
Event Timing
- Peak arrivals: 8 am to 9.30 am
- Racing commences: 10.00 am
- Racing concludes (elite athletes): Approximately 2.00 pm
- Podium presentations and departures: From approximately 2.00 pm onwards
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and allow extra travel time due to road closures and increased traffic volumes.
Road Closures and Traffic Impacts
To safely host this international event, several roads will be temporarily closed on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026.
Balingup-Nannup Road
Balingup-Nannup Road will be closed from 8:45 am until 4:00 pm on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026.
Brockman Highway
Brockman Highway will be closed from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026.
Grange Road, Nannup
Grange Road will be closed from 6:00 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026.
Forrest Street, Nannup
Forrest Street will be closed from 6:00 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026.
Adam Street, Nannup
Adam Street will be closed from 6:00 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026.
Brockman Street, Nannup
Brockman Street will be closed from 6:00 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026.
Other In Town Traffic Impacts
Grange Road, between Adam Street and Forrest Street, will be closed from 7:00 am on Wednesday 7 October until 10:00 am on Monday 12 October 2026.
Forrest Street, between Warren Street and Grange Road, will be closed from 7:00am on Thursday 8 October until 6:00 pm on Sunday 11 October 2026.
Adam Street, between Warren Street and Grange Road, will be closed on Friday 9 October.
Brockman Street will be closed on Friday 9 October.
🏁🚴 Race Route Closures
The race start and finish line will be located on Grange Road.
The following major roads will be closed during race operations:
- Balingup-Nannup Road: Approximately 9.30 am to 4.00 pm
- Brockman Highway: Approximately 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm (subject to final confirmation)
- Cundinup-Dudinyillup Road: Approximately 10.30 am to 1.30 pm
The gravel roads that form the race route will also be closed throughout the event. Residents and landholders are respectfully requested to avoid vehicle movements on the course during race times.

Parking and Getting Around
Event Parking
Competitor and spectator parking will be located at:
🅿️ Nannup District High School (Bishop Street)
🅿️ The Mill Site (Warren Road)
Parking will not be permitted in the main street or surrounding residential streets.
Overflow Parking
Additional parking will be available at:
🅿️ Mowen Springs Farm
Located 8 km west of Nannup on Mowen Road.
Visitors can utilise event transport options or access town via the Timberline Trail.
Local Residents Parking
To ensure local residents based outside of town or with mobility needs have access to parking close to Nannup's main amenities on the UCI Gravel World Championships weekend, a dedicated Local Residents parking zone will be in place behind St Thomas More Catholic Church. This can be accessed from Adam Street and will be operational on Saturday 10 October and Sunday 11 October from 8am.
Dashboard signs have been printed to be displayed on all cars wishing to use this parking zone. The Local Residents car park will be manned by local volunteers until noon each day. Please contact the CRC if you are able to help.
Ratepayers can collect one dashboard per household from the Shire offices or the CRC. Please note that the dashboard signs are intended for residents who do not live in town, elderly residents, and those with mobility issues who require guaranteed parking in central Nannup
Traffic Management
A comprehensive traffic management plan will be in place to minimise disruption and ensure public safety, including:
- Approved road closures and detours
- Traffic controllers and temporary speed restrictions
- Directional signage and variable message boards
- Dedicated event parking management
- Additional police resources and event personnel
- Ongoing monitoring of traffic and visitor movements
Motorists should follow all signage and directions from authorised personnel.
Fan Zones Along the Race Route
Experience the excitement of the UCI World Gravel Championships from two dedicated fan zones located along the race route. These locations provide excellent spectator opportunities to cheer on riders as they tackle key sections of the course.
🚴 Adina Farm Fan Zone
Get up close to the action at the Adina Farm Fan Zone, located at the race's Feed and Technical Zone. The site is accessible via Cundinup South Road and is approximately 17 km from the centre of Nannup.

Get a great viewing position at Adina Farm before making your way into town to enjoy the Race Village, entertainment and event atmosphere.
🚴 Dunnet Road Fan Zone
The Dunnet Road Fan Zone offers another fantastic opportunity to watch the race unfold as riders enter the Folly Sector. The fan zone is conveniently located just 300 metres from the Holberry House walkway to the Race Village, making it easy to combine race viewing with activities in town. I

Experience Nannup During the Championships
The Shire of Nannup, in partnership with Tourism WA and the Nannup Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will deliver a vibrant Family Zone from 9 to 11 October 2026.
Located opposite Old Depot Park on Brockman Street, the activation precinct will showcase the best of Nannup through arts, culture, entertainment, nature-based experiences and community participation. The program will include:
- Nature-based activities exploring local flora and fauna
- Creative arts and craft workshops
- Face painting
- Interactive games
- Live music
- Roving entertainment
Activities will cater for children, families and visitors of all ages.
Rainbow Rides Gravel Adventure
4 to 6 October 2026
The Southern Forests & Valleys Rainbow Rides offer families and recreational cyclists the opportunity to experience the region on two wheels.

What is the Rainbow Jersey?
The UCI Rainbow Jersey is one of the most recognised symbols in international cycling. Featuring five coloured stripes representing the continents of the world, it is worn by reigning UCI World Champions.
Winners of each category at the UCI Gravel World Championships earn the honour of wearing the Rainbow Jersey when competing throughout the following year.
