The Shire of Nannup is delighted to announce that funding has been secured through the WA Seniors Week Community Grants Program to support activities celebrating local seniors during WA Seniors Week 2026, which will be held from 8–15 November 2026.
WA Seniors Week is an annual celebration that acknowledges the important role older people play in community life while encouraging social connection, participation and positive ageing. Across Western Australia, communities come together to celebrate the experience, knowledge and contribution of seniors.
To mark the occasion, the Shire of Nannup will host two community events designed to bring local seniors together and provide opportunities to socialise, connect and enjoy new experiences.
The first event will be a Seniors Bus Trip to Manjimup on Monday 9 November 2026. Participants will travel to Manjimup for a day of friendship and exploration to meet the Manjimup Seniors Group, including a morning tea picnic at Manjimup Timber Park, a visit to the Manjimup Museum, a community BBQ lunch at Manjimup Wellness Centre, and free time to browse local op shops.
The second event, the Silver Screen Social, will be held on Thursday 12 November 2026. Seniors will enjoy morning tea followed by a screening of the much-loved film The Bucket List, providing a relaxed and welcoming opportunity to spend time with friends and meet new people.
Community Development Officer Apryl Longford said the funding would allow the Shire to create meaningful opportunities for local seniors to come together and celebrate their contribution to the community.
"Seniors play an important role in making Nannup the welcoming and vibrant community it is today. These events are an opportunity to thank our seniors, celebrate their contribution and provide enjoyable activities that encourage connection and community participation."
All local seniors are encouraged to register their interest in attending one or both events.
