A New Chapter for Nannup Families

Exciting changes are underway at the old kindy building! The transformation into a Nature Play playground is officially in progress, creating a vibrant space for families to gather, play, and connect in the heart of town.

Playground Construction

The team from Nature Based Play began site works on 24 November, following preparation by our Works and Services team, who cleared old play equipment and unwanted foliage. The new playground will feature locally sourced rocks and timber, giving it a natural, Nannup-inspired feel. This community-driven approach ensures the space reflects the beauty of our region.

Community Mural

Adding even more colour and creativity, local artist Leanne White has been selected by the Nannup Family Collective to deliver the mural throughout November. The design celebrates Nannup’s forest heritage and playful spirit, featuring children and native animals.

Funding Success

This project is proudly multi-funded, thanks to the incredible efforts of the Nannup Family Collective and support from:

• Shire of Nannup
• Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program – Phase 4
• Native Forest Transition Community Small Grants Fund

Additional funding applications are also in progress:

• Lotterywest:  for bespoke sensory equipment 
• Talison Lithium: for additional play elements

The playground will be more than just a play area—it will be a community hub and a wonderful attraction for families right in the centre of town.
