Celebrating Volunteer Week Nannups emergency services invites the community to come together in appreciation of our dedicated emergency services volunteers at the Community Preparedness and Emergency Vehicles Day on Saturday, 23 May from 8:00am to 1:00pm at Depot Park (corner Warren Road and Brockman Street).

This free, family-friendly event is an opportunity to connect with local emergency services, learn valuable safety skills, and recognise the important role volunteers play in keeping our community safe.

Attendees can look forward to a range of engaging and interactive activities, including:

  • Fire and SES trucks on display, offering a close-up look at emergency response vehicles — always a favourite for children and adults alike
  • A Virtual Reality bushfire experience, allowing participants to step into a simulated emergency scenario and test their preparedness
  • Free sausages, burgers and drinks, generously provided by the Nannup Lions Club
  • Information stalls providing practical guidance on planned burns, emergency support services, and how to stay prepared during risk periods

The event is a great opportunity to meet the local volunteers behind the uniforms, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of how to prepare for emergencies.

Geof Allam, the Shires Community Emergency Service Manager adds “Our volunteers play a vital role in keeping Nannup safe. This event is a chance for the community to come together, learn important safety information, and show appreciation for their ongoing commitment and service.”

With the community markets also taking place at the Anglican Church grounds, there is even more reason to spend the morning in town and enjoy all that Nannup has to offer.

This initiative reflects the Shire’s commitment to community safety, preparedness, and strengthening local connections, aligning with the values outlined in the Strategic Community Plan.

The event is proudly supported by the Shire of Nannup, Lotterywest, Nannup Lions Club, SES, DFES, Bushfire Service WA, and St John Ambulance.

Community members may even feel inspired to get involved — volunteering is a meaningful way to build skills, support others, and contribute to the resilience of the Nannup community.
