Blackwood Classic 250 Returns to Nannup!
The Blackwood Classic 250 is back on 26-27 September 2026, celebrating an incredible 51 years of racing on the Blackwood River.
Recognised as the world's longest power dinghy race, this iconic event sees competitors tackle a 250-kilometre time trial through some of the South West's most spectacular river scenery, travelling from Bridgetown to Augusta via Nannup and Sue's Bridge.
Founded by Ted and Norma Whitney, the race was inspired by the Avon Descent and their family's strong connection to the Blackwood River. Today, it remains one of Western Australia's most unique and enduring motorsport events.
Race Schedule
Saturday 26 September
Bridgetown to Nannup
- Boats are expected to exit the river at the Nannup Caravan Park footbridge from approximately 10.00am.
- Competitors and boats will remain in Nannup overnight.
Sunday 27 September
Nannup to Sue's Bridge
- Race restart from Nannup at 9.00am.
Monday 28 September
Sue's Bridge to Augusta
- Final stage of the race concluding in Augusta.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to come along, support competitors and enjoy the atmosphere as racers pass through Nannup.
