Western Australian sheep producers and supply chain businesses can now apply for the $40 million Supply Chain Capacity Program to adjust to the removal of live sheep exports by sea and moderate the impact of the change.
The Supply Chain Capacity Program is an initiative under the Australian Government’s $139.7 million Sheep Industry Transition Assistance Package and will target capital works to support expansion of WA sheep onshore processing supply chain capacity.
Round 1 is open to eligible businesses involved in production and processing in the sheep supply chain. This includes farmers, processors, feed lotters and supply chain capacity infrastructure providers such as cold storage and lairage providers.
On-farm producers and smaller-scale abattoirs are encouraged to apply.
- Round 1 closes 5pm Wednesday 22 October 2025.
- Round 2 will be announced in 2026.
