The Shire of Nannup's Community Grants Program continues to provide valuable support for local initiatives that strengthen community connections, enhance wellbeing and contribute to the Shire's strategic vision.
Round 1 of the 2026/27 Community Grants Program attracted strong interest from across the community, with 11 applications submitted seeking a total of $16,448 against the available funding allocation of $15,000. Applications represented a broad range of community priorities, including events, arts and culture, environmental initiatives, accessibility improvements and community infrastructure projects.
Following consideration of the applications, Council approved a range of grant allocations, fee waivers and in-kind support to ensure funding delivers the greatest possible benefit to the Nannup community.
The following organisations were awarded Community Grant funding:
- Nannup District High School P&C – $500 to support activities that bring families and the wider community together.
- Nannup Garden Village – $500 to assist initiatives that enhance resident wellbeing and community engagement.
- Nannup Historical Society – $810 to support the preservation and promotion of Nannup's local history and heritage.
- Country Women's Association – $1,000 to assist programs that foster social connection, inclusion and community resilience.
- Nannup Chamber of Commerce and Industry – $1,500 to support initiatives that strengthen local business activity and community vibrancy.
- Southern Forest Arts – $1,680 to help deliver arts and cultural programs that enrich community life and attract visitation.
- Scott River Charity Ball – $3,000 to support a major community event that raises funds for charitable causes while bringing people together.
In addition to direct funding, Council approved waivers of Shire fees and charges to support community events, including:
- Nannup District High School P&C's Carols by Torchlight event, valued at $335
- Scott River Charity Ball, valued at $35
Council also endorsed in-kind support for the Nannup Community Garden/Botanical Circle to assist with the delivery of its community-focused initiatives.
Recognising the long-term benefits of sustainability projects, Council supported the Nannup Lions Shed Solar Power Installation project in principle, with funding of $2,648 to be considered once building works are complete and the project is ready for implementation.
The successful projects reflect the diversity, creativity and commitment of Nannup's community organisations and volunteers. Together, they will contribute to stronger community participation, cultural development, local economic activity and social wellbeing across the Shire.
The Community Grants Program remains an important investment in community-led initiatives that help make Nannup a vibrant, connected and resilient place to live, work and visit.
