The Shire sincerely thanks the Western Australian Government for its support of this important initiative, along with local partners, community groups and stakeholders whose ongoing efforts contribute to protecting Nannup’s natural environment.
Invasive weeds, feral animals and other introduced pests continue to pose a growing threat to our forests, waterways, farmland and native wildlife. This project will support the development of a coordinated, long-term strategy to identify priority areas, guide future management actions and protect the environmental values that make Nannup such a special place.
The project will bring together local landholders, community groups, Traditional Owners, environmental organisations and government agencies to help shape the plan, ensuring it reflects local knowledge, experience and priorities. The Shire also acknowledges and values the collective efforts already underway across the community to manage invasive species.
Importantly, the plan will strengthen the Shire’s ability to secure future external funding for on-ground control activities by providing a clear, evidence-based framework for investment and action.
Over the coming months, there will be opportunities for community members to get involved through workshops, surveys and consultation sessions. The Shire looks forward to working collaboratively with the community to shape the future of invasive species management across Nannup.
This project is supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program.
