Nannup's 30th Citizen of the Year Award Ceremony

On January 26, The Shire of Nannup held its 30th Citizen of the Year Award ceremony together with the community at Foreshore Park. More than 250 members of the community came together to share in the celebrations and commemorate community life in Nannup.  

The Nannup Citizen of the Year Awards acknowledged those that have been recognised for their contribution towards the enhancement of community life in Nannup.

The winners and nominations of the Nannup Citizen of the Year awards 

2026 Nannup Citizen of the Year (25 years and over)

The 2026 Nannup Citizen of the Year is awarded to Joanna Cleverly.

Nominees are:

Dr Kushdev Singh – for exceptional medical care and generous support for our community.
Joanna Cleverly – for her years of compassionate service and leadership across many community groups.
Samantha Atkinson – for her inspiring work in the Nannup Community Garden and her plant‑based wellbeing education.
Wendy Duncan – for her pivotal role in establishing and guiding the Nannup WA Geopark and her long‑standing commitment to the South West Food Bowl.

2026 Nannup Senior Citizen of the Year Nominees (65 years and over)

The 2026 Senior Citizen of the Year is awarded to Jenny Forbes.

Nominees are:

Elizabeth (Liz) Collins – for her extraordinary dedication to the wellbeing of Nannup’s seniors.
Jenny Forbes – for her leadership with St John Ambulance and tireless first‑aid support at local events.
Michael Pickup – for his exemplary leadership of the Nannup Men’s Shed and contributions to the Nannup Community Cinema.
Peter Brown – for his long‑term commitment to the Lions Containers for Change program and community service.

2026 Community Group of the Year

The 2026 Community Group of the Year is awarded to the Nannup Community Cinema Inc.

Nominees are:

Nannup Community Cinema Committee – for creating meaningful, inclusive film experiences for our community.
Nannup Senior Citizens Social Club – for providing vital social connection, health information and support for older residents.

The Nannup Shire Council thanked everyone involved for their dedication, community spirit and commitment in making Nannup a wonderful place to live, work and play.
