Pine Ridge at Millward– From Pioneers to MTB Park

The Shire of Nannup is calling on community members—past and present—to help us piece together the rich history of the Pine Ridge site, the future home of Nannup’s new Mountain Bike Park for families.

Before it became an exciting new chapter in Nannup’s trail town journey, Pine Ridge held decades of local memories. Originally settled by early pioneers, the area later became home to the Bishops Homestead, before being purchased by Milward, who established forestry operations on the property. The land was eventually sold to the State and, in the early 1970s, transformed into the much‑loved Pine Ridge Golf Course.

For many, Pine Ridge was more than a golf course—it was a community hub. Nannup’s golf culture first formed on a private property on Balingup Road, where local enthusiasts gathered to play, socialise, and grow the sport. As interest grew, activity shifted to the Pine Ridge site in the late 1970s and early 1980s, where generations of locals and visitors played among the towering trees and rolling fairways.

Sadly, the Pine Ridge clubhouse was destroyed in a fire in 2002, marking the end of an era. The club relocated to central Nannup at the Recreation Centre Precinct, but the memories of Pine Ridge remain deeply treasured.

Now, with the site fully approved as an MTB (mountain bike) park—designed for families and riders of all abilities—the area is set to come alive again. The new facility will complement Nannup’s thriving riding scene, including the Ngoolark Jump Park and the nationally recognised Tank 7 MTB Park.

But before we build the future, we want to honour the past.
