Update: Open Burning Period Brought Forward

It has been determined that due to favourable forecast weather conditions and sufficient recent rainfall, the Open Burning Period for the Shire of Nannup will commence earlier than planned.


βœ… From 5.00am on Saturday, 2 May 2026, permits to burn will NO LONGER be required within the Shire of Nannup. (This was originally scheduled to begin on 15 May).

OPEN BURNING PERIOD – Important Safety Information

While a permit is not required, it’s essential that all residents burn responsibly and safely:

1️⃣ REGISTER YOUR BURN with Dep of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES)
πŸ“ž Call 08 9395 9209 in the 24hr period prior to lighting up (no earlier). This helps DFES operations and avoids unnecessary callouts by our volunteer fire brigades.

2️⃣ MONITOR your burn at all times
Never leave a fire unattended.

3️⃣ BE PREPARED
Have suitable firefighting equipment available and only burn material in manageable quantities.
